Halal Menopause Supplements in the UK: What to Look For
Midlife brings new nutritional priorities, and for Muslim women it brings an extra question at the shelf: is this actually halal? Many supplement brands don't say, or leave you to email and ask. Here's what to check, and how to choose with confidence.
Where supplements can fall short of halal
The active nutrients are rarely the issue. It's what surrounds them: gelatin capsules from non-halal sources, alcohol used in some liquid extracts, and animal-derived additives that aren't listed obviously. A capsule can look simple and still not meet Islamic dietary standards.
What to look for
A certification mark from a recognised halal authority, printed on the pack, is the gold standard. A "halal-friendly" line on a website with no mark behind it is not the same thing. Check the capsule too: plant-based capsules avoid the gelatin question entirely, and where gelatin is used, it should be certified halal.
The midlife nutrients worth building around
- Vitamin B6 contributes to the regulation of hormonal activity and to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.
- Magnesium contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue and to normal muscle function.
- Vitamin D contributes to the maintenance of normal bones and normal muscle function.
How MenoVeil does it
Every MenoVeil formula is halal certified, with the certification mark printed on the pack. You don't need to email us or dig through an FAQ. Most of the range uses plant-based capsules, and our Krill Oil Complex uses a halal-certified capsule carrying the Universal Halal Authority mark. Popular starting points are Daily Balance, built around vitamin B6 and zinc for every stage of menopause, and our Triple Magnesium Complex, which combines three forms of magnesium in one capsule.
If you fast during Ramadan, your supplements can simply be taken with suhoor or iftar.

Food supplements should not be used as a substitute for a varied, balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle. If you're pregnant, breastfeeding, taking medication or under the care of a doctor, check with your GP or pharmacist before starting anything new.
